Why Noya Rao

Noya Rao is one of the most respected master plants in Shipibo medicine, a tree held as sacred and dieted by healers who want to work with its light. In the Mahua family it has been studied for generations, most famously by Don Benjamin Mahua, Don Pascual Mahua, and Don Manuel Mahua.

A Noya Rao tree grows on the property of the center, so students can sit with her, diet her, and receive her light right here at Noya Rao Xobo.

Your Teacher

Don Wilder Mahua began studying the plants as a young boy with his grandfathers, the legendary Noya Rao curanderos Don Benjamin, Don Pascual, and Don Manuel Mahua. He teaches the medicine as it was taught to him by them: with Noya Rao, the tree of light, as the foundation of the path.
